Endra makes final investment decision for Nesse Solar Power Plant and enters into new long-term power agreement with REMA 1000
Endra has decided to invest in and build the Nesse Solar Power Plant in Sveio Municipality and has simultaneously entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with REMA 1000. The project will become Norway’s first Agri-PV solar power plant, where renewable energy production is combined with active agricultural operations.
The Nesse Solar Power Plant will have an installed capacity of up to 10.8 MWp and an expected annual production of just under 10 GWh, corresponding to the electricity consumption of approximately 650 households. The power plant is designed for a lifetime of at least 40 years and will provide stable, local, and renewable electricity to the region for decades to come.
– The investment decision for the Nesse Solar Power Plant is an important milestone for Endra. Long-term power agreement with REMA 1000
Through the long-term Power Purchase Agreement, REMA 1000 will purchase all the electricity generated by the Nesse Solar Power Plant. The agreement is Endra’s second PPA with REMA 1000 and builds on the partnership that began with the HIM Solar Power Plant in Vindafjord.

New solar power project developed in close cooperation with agriculture
The dialogue with the landowner at Nesse Farm began as early as 2023, and the project has been developed in close cooperation with the farm to ensure coexistence between solar power and agriculture. The Nesse Solar Power Plant is planned as Norway’s first Agri-PV project, where the solar installation is combined with sheep grazing in the area.
This enables dual land use in the form of green energy production for society while maintaining food production on the farm. At the same time, the project strengthens the farm’s economic sustainability and helps ensure that the next generation can continue farming. Increased grid capacity and improved access to electricity also provide a foundation for further development of agricultural activities.
– We are incredibly proud of what we are achieving at Nesse. We will continue raising cattle, sheep, and pigs while also producing renewable electricity. The fact that the sheep can graze between the solar panels means a great deal to us – the land continues to be used for food production while we also contribute clean energy. This gives the farm a new economic foundation, and it is exciting to be part of this development. With Endra’s strong local presence in the region and REMA 1000’s focus on responsibility, we feel confident that this will be a strong and long-term partnership, says farmer Maria Nesse.
Low impact development
The solar park covers an area of 146 decares, surrounded by forest and largely screened from view. The project has been developed with minimal visual and environmental impact.
Wildlife corridors will be established to allow animals to pass through the area, and the project also contributes to preserving semi-natural hay meadows, a threatened habitat type in Western Norway.
– The energy projects of the future must create more than just electricity – they must also create local value over time. That is the ambition we aim to realize at Nesse, says Gautesen.
