Endra has submitted a license application to NVE

Endra har sendt sin første konsesjonssøknad til NVE. – Dette er et veldig godt startprosjekt for Endra, sier direktør i Endra, Kristian Gautesen.

Endra has submitted its first concession application to NVE.
This is a very good starting project for Endra, says Kristian Gautesen, Managing Director of Endra. At the bottom of this article you will find a visualization of how the solar park will look once completed.

Landfill with post-closure obligations
The first concession application focuses on a landfill that is being closed and requires 30 years of post-closure monitoring. The landfill is located at Toraneset and is owned by Haugaland Intermunicipal Environmental Company (HIM).

The cooperation with HIM at Toraneset is an excellent match for Endra. The landfill faces south and the site has good grid connection, says Gautesen. The solar park will consist of around 5,000 solar panels mounted on racks. Solar cells actually perform more efficiently in colder climates, which makes Norway well suited for solar parks.

Power equivalent to 150 households
The landfill area is approximately 3.8 hectares. Once completed, the solar park will be able to deliver around 3 GWh annually to the grid, corresponding to the consumption of 150 detached houses. – For us, it is important that the land we use for solar energy does not result in excessive encroachment on nature, Gautesen emphasizes.

Responsible land use
HIM’s Managing Director, Gro Staveland, highlights the economic and social value of using such an area for energy production.

We believe it is a responsible use of land that would otherwise remain unused. HIM has no plans for this site, and it cannot be built on or used for anything other than solar production. From a societal perspective, we find it sensible to utilize an area with such restrictions for solar energy, Staveland says.

Comprehensive impact assessment
Endra has carried out a comprehensive impact assessment of the project and site. The company hopes to obtain concession approval before the end of the year, enabling an investment decision early in 2024 and construction to begin before summer 2024.
